We hired ServiceMaster Restore of Lanark for interior painting, and it ended in property damage, substandard work, and months of evasion. Two separate crews were sent to our home, and both made things worse. The job quality was not professional at all, leaving uneven paint application, heavy paint overspray across our front entryway, master bathroom trim, ceilings, and adjacent finished surfaces. After the second crew assigned to the job made a mess of things, another inspection was scheduled to assess the damage. We confirmed the date, but they never showed up. Instead, they cut off all communication and abandoned our project for more than two months. Left with visible damage and silence from the company, we hired an independent contractor (Arlo Homes) to repair the entryway and provide a quote to remediate the master bathroom, totaling $2,599.00. When we reached out to request reimbursement, owner Don Meisner was dismissive, argumentative, and refused to commit to any timeline for restitution. Instead, he deflected accountability with excuses about Ottawa flooding, employee vacations, and needing more time to interview his crew. When I challenged how aggressively he was speaking to me, he replied, “I am not being aggressive, maybe you should listen better,” and cut me off with, “That’s fine then, I guess I will speak to you when I speak to you.” Escalating the issue to ServiceMaster Canada corporate was just as futile. David Mercer simply repeated Don’s excuses and told us to figure it out amongst ourselves. Formal complaints were filed with the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Protection Ontario. With the company completely refusing to take financial responsibility, we took the only step left. A Plaintiff’s Claim has been issued against 101413706 Ontario Inc. and Don Meisner in the Ontario Small Claims Court in Perth. A reputable contractor does not ruin a client’s home, skip scheduled inspections, abandon unfinished work, and treat customers with hostility. If you are a homeowner in Smiths Falls or Lanark County, look elsewhere and verify credentials thoroughly before letting this company into your home.

I would not recommend Service Master for rebuild. They did a good job with the emergency clean up after our rental property was destroyed by our tenants. Unfortunately they were neglectful on so many levels when it came to rebuild. The project manager did not supervise the rebuild and as a result it took a whole year to complete the project. In the end the painting job was so incompetent that you could see the bumps on the wall clearly. They offered a minimal discount for the poor painting job. Then we discovered a long list of deficiencies that was assessed by a professional. I have been chasing Service Master to address the deficiencies for a year. It takes them months to respond to my emails and even then very little action is taken. They did a poor job with the transitions between rooms and we keep tripping over the transitions. They were suppose to drop off the extra flooring we paid for and the warranty for windows and doors, it's been over a year and I'm still chasing after them with no results. I am disappointed with Service Master and will not recommend it to anyone for rebuild because their priority rests on emergency clean up and they don't have sufficient staff that are competent for rebuild.

I called about an asbestos sample, Tiffany knew where it was in process, and when to expect, and when she would be in contact. It was amazing, she was kind and helpful!
